DAY ACTIVITIES PROGRAM

Facility Based Socialization with Community Outings [Community Inclusion]
Program Hours - Monday through Friday 8AM-5:30PM

The Day Program is a safe, nurturing environment with a variety of activities for individuals who attend. Each client has an individualized support plan [ISP] which is created by the individualand their ISP team; this includes the individual, family, PASS, Personal Agent or Case Manager. The ISP includes the goals for the client while he/she attends PASS as well as any special needs and is used by staff to structure each individual's time with us.

Typical activities include games, arts and crafts, computer time, music therapy, lunch and/or snacks [food brought by the client], TV/Videos/Nintendo, and community outings - both structured and 'free' time is included in each day.

Community outings include a wide variety of activities including:
  • trips to nearby parks for exercise or lunch
  • shopping at stores or the mall
  • bowling
  • the Oregon zoo
  • OMSI
  • the library
  • movies
  • MAX ride
Our 3:1 client to staff ratio is significantly below the industry average and was chosen by our founding families to provide for more personalized attention to individual needs. While this significantly raises our cost for care-giving staff, the Board is committed to maintain this distinctive feature of our program. Our staff are all trained caregivers and are certified in First Aid, CPR, and OIS Level G [a non-aversive behavior management system approved by the State of Oregon].

Day Program time at PASS is available in blocks of 4 hours or more in most any configuration necessary to meet the needs of the individual or family. Our scheduling flexibility is another distinctive feature of PASS services. We were founded with the working family in mind and remain committed to meeting their needs.

RESPITE CARE
Saturday 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM; reservation requested.
Monday-Friday time is available when staffing permits. Contact us for availability.

Respite is a less structured time at PASS. Activities at the Center are much the same as the Day Program. Families typically use this service to provide care for their loved one while they do activities that he or she cannot or chooses not to participate in or just for a break or 'rest'. Care-giving is a demanding job for anyone including families - but one undertaken with love. Everyone needs and deserves a break at some time.

Individuals who are still receiving Special Education services typically use weekday Respite for care during school breaks, vacations, summer time, or to 'fill out' their day so that the parents can continue to work their normal schedule. We cannot guarantee availability due to staffing requirements, but we make every effort to accommodate requests.
