PASS - November 2010
On Friday September 17th, 5 individuals (from same family) who attended PASS moved out of state. This was for personal/family reasons and was totally understandable. We knew this was coming, but did not know precisely when it would occur. Unfortunately for PASS this was roughly 1/2 of our clientele and income at PASS 2, our Russell St location – an income loss averaging $4,600 per month. While our second site hasn’t grown as fast as we hoped and projected, it is doing well and contributing positively to PASS’ financial position. This obviously changes things significantly – short term we feel. Since Labor Day we have added 2 full time clients and 1 part time client, reducing our income deficit but it remains substantial by PASS’ standards, i.e. in excess of $3,000 per month. We are making adjustments, staffing and otherwise, but this is a large hole to fill without doing significant damage to our operations and quality of care. For instance – we could fill this gap by no longer covering basic health insurance for our staff – but I am loathe to take that drastic step. Also, further growth in clientele is anticipated but will take time and is not under our control. Now would be a great time for your next tax deductible gift to PASS. As you plan your year-end charitable giving, we hope you will keep us in mind. Our mission of service to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families is to a significant degree dependent on the continued support of our loyal donors. Thank you, Warren Rushold – President
